Welcome to Westfield Community
Primary School

Welcome to our prospectus. I am proud to introduce myself as Headteacher of Westfield Primary school.

Westfield is a large primary school with a big heart to suit. We cater for children from the age of 3, when they can join us in our nursery setting, until they are 11 and ready to join high school.

At Westfield we are passionate about making every learning experience count so that children are excited, motivated and engaged. Our curriculum allows all children to flourish, whatever their starting points - through academic, sporting, creative and personal achievements. We work closely with parents, as strong home-school links provide the most effective journey through school.

Please take some time to look through our digital prospectus and this website to explore the opportunities available for your child.

Contact the office to arrange an appointment to come and have a look for yourselves; we look forward to welcoming you.

Curriculum

At Westfield Community Primary School, we strive to provide a curriculum that engages and excites. Our curriculum recognises the importance of teaching children subject knowledge as well as developing their practical skills.

We look to open minds and shape the futures of all children who journey through our school; each creating their own unique footprint.

Children explore topics through a cross-curricular approach, meaning that all subjects will link to a topic that usually lasts around 6 weeks.

During this time we aim to;

  • Ignite passion in learning
  • Develop new skills and knowledge through a broad and balanced curriculum where all subjects are valued
  • Foster children’s curiosity to excite and sustain their interest through memorable experiences
  • Promote communication and creativity, encouraging children to be innovative
  • Involve children in shaping their learning journey, mapping a route to expertise
  • Provide pupils with the tools to adapt and thrive in our dynamic world

Early Years Foundation Stage

Our outstanding Early Years offers children the very best start to their education. Our primary aim at this stage is to ignite a passion for learning and ensure children are happy, confident and enjoy coming to school.

We get to know our pupils individually and celebrate their unique personalities, ensuring that academic achievement is equal to social and emotional development. We carefully consider each child’s starting point and build learning to suit their needs. Children have the opportunity to engage in activities that are planned by an adult as well as learning that they initiate themselves.

Our well-resourced indoor and outdoor space enables us to plan exciting and engaging learning experiences that foster children’s curiosity. There is no distinction between ‘play’ and ‘work’ at Westfield, as while children are busy playing and exploring they are busy learning, and having fun!

Enhancing Our Curriculum

Our after school clubs are a great opportunity to extend children’s learning and engage in special interests such as; cookery, comic & animation, cheerleading and arts & crafts.  We also offer extensive sporting activities such as football, cross-country, netball, tag rugby and tennis.

We benefit from purpose built facilities in school, including a dance studio, library, art room and forest school. We are fortunate to have a beautifully maintained school building and grounds, and feel that children deserve the very best equipment and facilities if they are to learn effectively.

We offer extensive resources; including IPads, virtual reality equipment, laptops and tablets, all of which enrich children’s learning and develop their skills.

At Westfield we put great value on children having memorable experiences both in school and out, we offer residential visits and educational trips and also invite experts in to school to enhance learning.

Our Community

Westfield has a thriving community atmosphere. The PTFA work year-round raising funds to support different aspects of school and to enhance the opportunities available to our children. They also hold regular coffee mornings to catch up with the wider parent community.

Parents and grandparents have a growing number of opportunities to come into school and be a part of their children’s learning experiences. We also work closely with parent and carers to help support their children at home through learning activities or parent support groups.

Westfield enjoy being part of Wombourne and often take part in community projects celebrating different aspects of village life.

School governors play an active role within school. They can often be seen in classrooms and taking part in school events.
