Our Nursery
Our excellent Early Years offers children the very best start to their education. Our primary aim at this stage is to ignite a passion for learning and ensure children are happy, confident and enjoy coming to school. We get to know our pupils individually and celebrate their unique personalities, ensuring that academic achievement is equal to social and emotional development. We carefully consider each child’s starting point and build learning to suit their needs. Children have the opportunity to engage in activities that are planned by an adult as well as learning that they initiate themselves.
Our well-resourced indoor and outdoor space enables us to plan exciting and engaging learning experiences that foster children’s curiosity. There is no distinction between ‘play’ and ‘work’ at Westfield, as while children are busy playing and exploring they are busy learning, and having fun!
Induction sessions – getting to know us
For all children joining our pre-nursery and nursery we offer stay and play sessions for you and your child to spend time getting to know us together. We also offer induction sessions where you are able to leave your child in our care for short periods of time to ensure you and your child are happy and settled.
We strongly encourage you to come and look around to get a feel for our wonderful Early Years setting at Westfield.
Provision for 2 Year olds
We have recently extended our provision to offer pre-nursery places for 2 year olds.
Children may attend as many sessions as needed either mornings, afternoons or a mixture of both. We aim to be as flexible as possible to meet your childcare needs.
Some parents are eligible for 15 hours funding for 2 year olds starting the term after their 2nd birthday. To check eligibility and apply for the funding please visit the following website: www.staffordshire.gov.uk/think2.
If you are not eligible for funding, please enquire at our school office for charges applicable for your child.
Provision for 3 year olds
We offer morning places for our nursery children. This can however be extended to afternoons, and include wraparound care if needed.
The term after your child turns 3, families may be eligible for 30 hours funded childcare.
Please visit https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/ to apply for this. If you are eligible, you will be given a Department for Education Reference Number (DERN) to pass on to the school office.
